To get the full benefits of your Trust, you’ll need make sure that your assets such as your home & financial accounts are transferred into the Trust. This means that those assets need to be retitled so that the Trust is the owner. When the Trust is the owner, it allows the assets to pass seamlessly to your beneficiaries as you’ve stated in your Trust. Don’t worry, since you are the primary trustee of your Trust, you still own everything, the same way you do now.

What does it mean to transfer a deed into my Trust?

For most people, your home (or other real estate) is the most valuable asset you own. In order for your home to benefit from the full protection of your Trust it must be transferred into the Trust by retitling the deed into the name of the Trust. If you think of your Trust like a box, the box is empty is until you move things into it. Once you move things into your Trust (the box) they will receive the full protection and benefits of being inside your Trust. Don’t worry, as primary Trustee of your Trust, you still own everything in the Trust.
