What do you do here at Trust & Will?
As Head of Communications, I oversee all of our external communications and media relations campaigns. I also help with organic social and influencer marketing strategies to help. My job is to help more Americans understand the importance of estate planning and raise awareness for the Trust & Will brand.
Tell us about your family!
We have a 3.5 yr old daughter and another girl on the way in June. My husband and I met at a Yankees game in 2008 and have moved across the country together to set up our family foundation in beautiful, sunny San Diego.
What do you like most about working at Trust & Will?
I love how supportive Trust & Will is of working parents. It is a lot to juggle childcare and work, especially in a pandemic, and I appreciate how open and flexible they are when it comes to our schedules and working situations.
I honestly don't think I could do my job without their full support and understanding that family comes first, and that sometimes, things are out of control when it comes to childcare. Also, all of my colleagues are the brightest, funniest and most down-to-earth people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. They truly make it a joy to come to work every day.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Don't sweat the small stuff. It is very easy to get overwhelmed and stressed out when you work in PR, so I've learned to go with the flow and only freak out when absolutely necessary. An old boss and mentor had once told me that it's "PR, not ER (emergency room)" and that has really stuck with me throughout my career.
What motivational quote do you live by?
“We don't inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”
What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?
When I'm not working, I mostly hang out with my daughter. We love going to the beach and I also am trying to get back into surfing and snowboarding.
What's one misconception about estate planning you'd like to debunk?
I think the most common misconception is that it is only for the wealthy or for those who have a lot of money or assets to pass down. I didn't set up an estate plan until I began working here and I quickly realized how important it is to nominate a guardian for my child if something were to happen to me or my husband.
